tennis highlights(made by me): Patrick Rafter vs Pete Sampras; 1997 Davis Cup Semifinal; part 1 of 3; English commentary; I apologize for the off audio, It seems to happen often with older tennis videos, nothing I can really do about it; sampras wins in four sets I uploaded this because of the SERIOUS LACK of any tennis videos of rafter or any other serve and volleyer on youtube, all you get is just baseliners banging away, Anywayz, this is dedicated to all the fans of the contrast of baseliner and serve and volleyer so… watch, comment rate and enjoy!!!

    they both are serve and volly type of player except sampras is better at reading his opponent’s shot in order to predict the ball get there before it happens

    Absolutely…….

    We need to see more serve and volley, it was a more of a thinker’s game and the pace was so much faster,

    I miss it on grass. 1990s were among the best of tennis.

    and the intensity of the game was so different; every ball seemed much more urgent because of the speed and pace of the game and strategies…still…this new tennis domain with heavy courts and balls does allow great power tennis; giving the men’s game some big hitters and some fluently talented ones…i’m not that happy about the women’s level of tennis though. It seems more sloppy than ever.

    lovely to see some of that kick-ass volley work… practically banished from the game by the ATP or whatever power player with their claim on slower material. Although that isn’t necessarily bad of course…it’s nice to see great rally’s too..and yet we all miss the good old times I guess, to see that ‘touch’ in volleys

    That is the style they played tincho you dumbass. If you watch you’ll see it actually works quite well (Roger Federer sometimes does this)

    I sort of agree that Sampras was boring…just because you get tired of watching ace after ace and even when he had to play a volley they were so easy. Rafter was very exciting to watch though.
